There are many people who have dreamed of working in the field of automotives. The problem is that working on cars and getting dirty does not appeal to everyone. Thankfully, automotive service adviser training will allow for a great career in the field you’ve always dreamt of.

A service consultant’s job spans a wide variety of duties. They are the ones who deal with the customers on a daily basis and have to possess both great communication and people skills. In addition to being able to interact with the customers, they will also need to take all sorts of administrative tasks that deal with those relations.

The most important job of an adviser is to sit and listen to each customer’s concerns, wants, and needs while being able to read between the lines and interpret the actual message that they are trying to convey.

As with any professional career there is a lot of training that goes into becoming a service adviser. You will definitely have to complete a NATEF certification program to work in this field. Most community colleges hold classes which help you to integrate yourself into the field. Some employers will request that you obtain your ASE certification, but it is generally not a requirement.

Duties

In addition to the service provider training you will have to put your time in with a dealership in order to get the spot you want. A background in automotive technology will also be a must. As if these factors were not enough there are also going to be several duties that this great career entails.

Extended hours will be one thing that you have to get used to. Most dealerships will require that you come early and stay late each and every day. Being able to deal with such a hectic schedule is crucial to this type of work.

Customer service will be priority one for anyone who works in this field. You will not only be asked to meet with the clients, but also need to schedule and keep daily appointments and provide them with the information they need no matter what they are asking.

The importance of organization cannot be stressed enough. There will be scheduling to keep track of as well as paperwork to keep track of. You will also be required to follow up on all jobs and services being provided to each customer.

If a job is delayed or there is a problem with a part, then it will be your sole responsibility to contact everyone involved and ensure that the customer is satisfied with the progress of the job. If a customer does not understand what the repair entails then you are in charge of explaining things.

Becoming an automotive service trainer will require a lot of dedication from you. It involves long hours and having to deal with sometimes difficult customers which you will learn how to handle in your automotive adviser training. However, if you are looking for a rewarding career path that allows plenty of opportunity for advancement then you really can’t pass this job up. The best thing will be that at the end of the day you can go home with a great sense of accomplishment.
