Solar technology of the current era is jumping leaps and bounds over the head of the technology of yesterday .    Becoming mainstream is the process of installing RV solar panels.  Some of the installations I’ve had the pleasure of helping build could easily power the entire RV’s needs throughout an entire evening at full load.  These units provide benefits that the average generator user won’t see.

For starters, they are always helping you charge the batteries when the sun is out .  This even includes overcast days that don’t shine direct sunlight on the panels.  Modern cells have grown so efficient that even on cloudy days you can expect to see over 50% energy output.

A key to the making of your own d-i-y RV solar panels is this:  don’t buy the cells new.  There are actually several sources of damaged cells for extremely low cost compared to buying new.

Ever go to a camp site and hear a generator running all throughout the night?  That’s the guy you don’t want to be.  I know of this since I used to be the same guy.  I have seen my share of disgruntled outbursts because even a tiny “whisper quiet” generator is easily heard from 300 feet away when you’re surrounded by families trying to sleep in close quarters.  With RV solar panels, this isn’t a problem.  Your trailer/RV likely charged itself up when it weas sitting in your driveway.  This means your ready to start using quiet power from the moment you drive in.

RV solar panels also have a hidden benefit that isn’t always evident – they provide shade on hot summer days!  I didn’t expect this until I found that the temperature inside my trailer was noticably cooler when it was parked in the sun.  Granted, I have a large number of RV solar panels, but the benefit is there nonetheless.

With a simple assembly of your own RV Solar Panels, you stand to save hundreds, if not thousands, over the lifetime of the panels.
