If You Haven’t Realized Yet, This Moment Is The Time When Everyone Can Hear About Automotive Repair Industry News

With tough times upon the auto industry many people feel dealers should be giving the customer whatever they want or need. While this may sound good in theory, for the automotive industry you have to consider that many different things come into play that makes theory not always feasible.
It’s not actually the dealers that are dropping the ball most of the time; it’s the automakers themselves. They may not ship what has been requested by the dealers, instead shipping the vehicle they want. This leaves the dealers with an inventory that isn’t what they requested or what their customers want.
This unfortunate circumstance leaves the dealer with the choice of resorting to hard sell tactics or letting the vehicles sit around forever. Those hard to sell cars can continue to sit for a while, but ultimately they will create problems for the dealer, as no customer may really want to buy them. It’s either hope they have the vehicle you want or sometimes settling on another choice.
Continued build up of those vehicles can leave the dealer with absolutely no cars that will fit their customers’ needs or wants. You will definitely want to figure this in when you head into that local dealership and don’t see a car you want.
Those hard to sell vehicles that continue to sit around are called a “brown banana”, because it’s become overripe and the value has been going down as it continues to sit around. At this point what can a dealer really do about that problem?
Sure, they could get rid of the vehicles at a lower cost and that would thrill the customer. But many of those dealerships will then suffer the fate of possibly being closed down by the automaker when they don’t make enough profit. Short of reverting back to hard sale tactics, it can be very hard for the dealer to be able to make the customer happy.
Remember those old days when you use to head to shop for a car and the salesperson would basically jam a sale down your throat? Yes, we really don’t need those days to come back again, because it made the process of looking at vehicles a real pain.
A classic step that many dealers would use would be asking for your keys, stating they needed them to look at your trade-in. As those keys were no longer in the customer’s hands they could continue working on you. Trying to wear you out and get you to agree to a new car.
It was a process that earned many people a bad reputation in the past. They would wear you down over time, until you would finally agree to the sale. Not only would you get a car you weren’t really sure you wanted, but you may have put yourself into too much debt.
