1999 Ford Explorer XL 6 cylinder — had tranny replaced last year but the car still runs rough. Don’t trust it for a long trip. 1998 Pontiac Sunfire Convertible with sports package and 2.2 lt engine — just passed inspection, had fuel pump replaced a couple of years ago, has a coolant microleak, has excellent pickup. I figure I’m going to have to dump one of these cars soon and get something new, but I don’t want to pick the wrong one and then see it still on the road with someone else three years from now. The Pontiac is all leather. It could use a new roof. I haven’t located the microleak yet, but keep the coolant OK.

Answer:
Lunatic is right I have heard of Explorer’s called Exploders and maybe that is why my husband says that Ford stands for found on road dead(I still love my Ford Focus). My best friend had an Explorer and even brand new it rode like a log truck. My husband had a Ford ranger and it rode rough but to me was like they say Ford tough. The Sunfire sounds like the one to keep but don’t let that microleak get past you and forget because a busted block in an engine is useless as I am sure that you know> I am seeing to it that the basic maintence of my car is done by me and am learning as I go, I am going to do a complete tune up on my car soon. I want to see just how long my car will last with my own personal upkeep.
