does made in the USA mean anything anymore? are there any affordable american cars in the market these days?

You’re right, and wrong. GM, and Chrysler are some prime examples. They thought the green era was a stage: why they dropped Pontiac, Saturn, and almost everything except the PT Cruiser, the Cadillac, and the trucks. For that they suffer. Ford switched swiftly once gas prices rose. Good examples: Focus: Most Fuel Efficent mid-size Sedan. Flex Many other Hybrid SUV’s. And a couple supercars, such as the Mustang and the GT40.
